§ 30-1000.1. Enforcement duties.

  • The Commissioner of Buildings shall cause to be submitted to the Zoning Administrator for review all applications for permits for the construction, enlargement, structural alteration, conversion or relocation of any building or structure; permits to erect signs; certificates of use and occupancy; and certificates of zoning compliance. The Zoning Administrator shall approve or disapprove such applications based on compliance or noncompliance with this chapter. The Zoning Administrator shall use all best efforts to prevent violations and to detect and secure the correction of violations. If it shall be found that any of the sections of this chapter are being violated, the Zoning Administrator shall see that written notice is given to the person responsible for such violation, indicating the nature of the violation and the action necessary to correct it. The Zoning Administrator shall order or cause to be ordered the discontinuance of illegal uses of land, buildings or structures; removal of illegal buildings or structures or of illegal additions or alterations; and discontinuance of illegal work being done. The Zoning Administrator shall also take or cause to be taken any other action authorized by this chapter or other laws of the City or the Commonwealth to ensure compliance with and to prevent violation of this chapter.
